    Position Summary and Essential Functions

    Sands Capital is searching for a Director, Client Relations to focus on Global Financial Institutions (GFIs).  The firm currently manages assets for some of the largest GFIs across several of our strategies, many of which are serviced via our 40 Act Fund partners.  Sands Capital is seeking to consolidate our various touchpoints within a single defined role.  The Director, Client Relations is responsible for improving the direct visibility of Sands Capital within GFIs by enhancing our understanding of the ongoing opportunity set and engaging with the GFIs as strategic partners. 


    This position is based out of our Arlington, Virginia office and requires significant travel, primarily in the U.S., but also international, as needed.


    Specific responsibilities for the Director, Client Relations include:

    • Building and maintaining strong relationships with the largest GFIs
    • Expanding existing relationships horizontally across different internal teams/business units and geographic offices, primarily U.S. Onshore, but also including U.S. Offshore
    • Driving additional usage of our various strategies from current GFI partners through servicing key offices (within U.S.) and understanding product requirements (40 Act funds, UCITS funds, Separate Accounts)
    • Improving asset retention through a closer and more traditional direct client relationship
    • Building new partnerships with those GFIs who do not currently invest with Sands Capital
    • Establishing relationships with ‘thought leaders’ at GFIs to understand possible ways that we may partner on new strategies to the future
    • Working with our various 40 Act Fund providers where complementary


    Necessary Skills and Qualifications

    • B.A. or B.S. degree required
    • 5+ years of experience working in the asset management industry
    • Strong business development and client relations background
    • Advanced knowledge of investment management and financial analysis concepts, terms, and definitions
    • Strong interpersonal skills and exceptional communications skills (verbal and written)
    • High degree of initiative, self-discipline, and motivation
    • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team
    • Operates with a positive ‘can do’ attitude
    • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
    • Solid organizational and time management skills with the ability to both prioritize and also handle multiple priorities at once
    • Spanish language skills a plus, but not a requirement
